I was smoking 10-15 cigarettes a day for 13 years and now I have been Smokefree for 6 months! I was feeling negative, anxious and frequently unwell. I felt the cigarettes were in control of me and slowly killing me so I decided to stop smoking before they did!
I have tried on many occasions to quit but failed. I knew that I needed to give up so decided to give myself one last chance. The longer I was Smokefree, the stronger my willpower became. I used the nicotine patch to help me quit but my achievement would have been impossible without the support of Hilary and Sarah at the Speke Health Centre session, my girlfriend and my family.
The main benefits I have found since stopping smoking are;
- I am mentally and physically stronger
- My taste and my smell senses have improved
- I have saved a lot of money
- I am no longer dependant on nicotine and have stronger willpower
If you want to quit smoking, never give up! If you don’t succeed the first time, you will eventually win the final fight. It’s not as hard as you think!
